Former Tottenham Hotspur hero Graham Roberts insists that Harry Kane still loves the club amid his ongoing exit saga.

Sky Sports reported prior to the start of the European Championships that Kane had asked to leave the club, leading to links with Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea.

City are this week reported to have made the first bid for Kane, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claiming that the offer is worth a minimum of £100m to Spurs, and that players, such as Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte, could be included in a deal.

Still, Romano has reported that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has no intention of accepting such a bid.

Roberts claims that Spurs still holds a special place in Kane’s heart, as he is familiar with the striker’s family.

But he can understand why he may be keen to move on, as Spurs have seen their form dip dramatically over the past few seasons following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, Roberts said: “As much as I know Harry Kane, I know his family really well, they love Tottenham, they’re not the sort of people that will go in and demand a transfer but what I will say is that he doesn’t look happy.

“But he still gives 100%, he scores goals and everything but deep down, the club haven’t progressed like they said they would.

“You can’t go from a top four side, finishing second, third, all of a sudden you’re trying to get sixth. That’s not progression.”
