After being one of the stars of Ajax's incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals a couple of seasons ago, Donny van de Beek has been quietly continuing to dominate in Dutch football.

The midfielder struck ten goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions last season, and it's no surprise to hear that a number of Europe's biggest clubs are after him.

And according to Spanish publication SPORT, one of the sides who are interested in luring him away from the Netherlands this summer, is Tottenham. The report claims that Jose Mourinho's team and Manchester United have both made contact with Ajax over his signing, but that Van de Beek himself is more keen on a switch to Barcelona.

It's added that Ajax are not about to budge from their €55m (£49m) asking price, with Barcelona waiting to see how the situation surrounding Lionel Messi at the moment develops.

After hearing about their side's links to the Dutchman, Spurs fans took to Twitter to share their reactions.

A couple of Spurs fans brought Tanguy Ndombele's name into the conversation, with one supporter even calling on the club to bring in Van de Beek if the Frenchman left north London this summer.

With his proven track record in both the Dutch top-flight and on the European stage, it's no surprise that Spurs fans seem so excited at the prospect of Van de Beek joining the club.

The 23-year-old of course netted the winner against Spurs in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final in the 2018/2019 campaign, whilst he also found the back of the net in Ajax's 2-1 victory over Juventus in the previous round.

If Mourinho can somehow lure the midfielder to north London, it could be one of the biggest signings of the summer.
