Tottenham Hotspur aren’t finished in the transfer market just yet…
That’s according to football.london reporter Alasdair Gold, who dropped a rather exciting claim during a recent Q&A with supporters, where he revealed some information straight from Antonio Conte’s mouth.
“Players need to head out of the door in the weeks ahead and Conte told me out in Korea that the club will continue to look for further opportunities to improve the squad,” he said.
Spurs have enjoyed a successful transfer window thus far, signing no fewer than six players, all of whom will play a big part in the 2022/23 campaign.
The north Londoners will be competing in the Champions League for the first time since 2020, so midweek matches and two games per week is going to quickly become the norm again, leading to an increased need for squad depth and rotation.
In Richarlison, a £60m signing from Everton, the Italian head coach gets further firepower to his thrilling frontline, where the Brazilian can replace any one of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son or Dejan Kulusevski.
Yves Bissouma, who arrived in a £25m deal from Brighton and Hove Albion, joins a competitive engine room full of talent and he could well be rivalling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for a starting place, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp the alternatives.
Out wide, Conte has got his former Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic to bolster the left flank, whilst Djed Spence has joined in a £15m deal from Middlesbrough to improve that troublesome right wing-back spot.
And then in defence, Clement Lenglet has swapped the Nou Camp for N17 on a temporary basis and he becomes the manager’s only left-footed natural centre-back.
Now, attention could turn to finding a creative piece to improve their delivery in the final third and lower the burden on Kane, who has dropped deeper and deeper in recent seasons.
Whilst another defensive cog wouldn’t go amiss either and with less than five weeks to go in the window, supporters around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will surely be delighted by Gold’s fresh claims that the club are actively looking for more.
It’s been a wild window so far and it appears as if sporting director Fabio Paratici isn’t done just yet, much to the delight of the Lilywhites faithful.
