Speaking on The Last Word on Spurs podcast, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham recently enquired about former star Christian Eriksen.

What's the word?

The Denmark international spent the first-half of the 2019/2020 campaign in north London, before sealing a move to Serie A giants Inter in the January transfer window amid his contract running down at Spurs.

But with recent reports claiming that Inter have been underwhelmed by the play-maker's performances at the club, and that they are already looking to offload him, Romano has revealed that Spurs enquired about potentially re-signing Eriksen a couple of weeks ago.

Levy disaster

Putting aside Eriksen's disappointing end to life at Spurs, there can be no question that the Dane delivered a number of superb seasons in north London.

In 305 games, the 28-year-old struck 69 goals and provided an impressive 89 assists, with Mauricio Pochettino even hailing him as "special".

But whilst he had some great times at the club, the £54m-rated star just isn't the future for Spurs. The fact he felt the need to leave the Lilywhites even after Jose Mourinho's arrival as manager underlines that there was no coming back for him following his very public claim that he wanted to leave last summer.

The club have now moved on from the drama that hung over Eriksen every day he was at the club, with the early episodes of the All or Nothing documentary really showcasing just how much the whole scenario dominated things behind the scenes.

Going back in for him would just be a total and utter disaster.
