Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be eyeing a move for AS Monaco defender, Axel Disasi, according to the latest reports.

What's the word?

As per journalist Kaveh Solhekol - via the Sky Sports News Youtube channel - the north Londoners are "one of the clubs reported to be interested" in signing the Frenchman this month, as manager Antonio Conte seeks to bolster his centre-back ranks.

This comes amid a report from the Daily Mail that named Spurs as a potential suitor for the 24-year-old, albeit with Premier League rivals Manchester United and West Ham United also said to be in the frame for his signature.

This follows claims made in Spain during the summer that suggested the Lilywhites were interested in signing the former Reims man, having been tracking the 6 foot 3 titan for almost two years prior to that.

Bye bye Sanchez

The imposing powerhouse has certainly proven himself to be a real "dominant" force during his time in France - in the words of talent scout Jacek Kulig - having particularly impressed as a result of his form in Ligue 1 this term.

The three-cap machine - who featured at the World Cup for Les Bleus - has notably averaged 1.2 tackles and 2.0 interceptions per game from his 17 league appearances this season, while also winning 78% of his aerial duels to illustrate his physical prowess.

Not just a rock-solid figure in the backline, Disasi also offers quality in possession as he ranks in the top 3% in Europe among those in his position for assists, as well as ranking in the top 7% for progressive passes.

Seemingly a "complete" package, according to Kulig, the addition of the Monaco gem could well help Conte and sporting director Fabio Paratici part ways with floundering defender, Davinson Sanchez, with the Colombian having distinctly underwhelmed in recent times.

The former Ajax man has been branded as "one of the worst players" that talkSPORT pundit Jamie O'Hara has seen at the club, having also previously been described as "shocking" by another former Tottenham midfielder, Jermaine Jenas.

Those woes - which have seen the 26-year-old start just six top-flight games this season - are laid bare by the fact that Sanchez has averaged just 0.9 interceptions and 1.4 tackles per game so far this term, while also keeping just two clean sheets in that time.

Equally, unlike Disasi, the £65k-per-week dud also offers little on the ball as he ranks in just the top 37% for progressive passes, having proven something of a liability in the club's backline in recent years.

As such, should Spurs be able to get their man this month - or in the summer - it could well prove an opportune time to send Sanchez packing.
