An update has emerged on Tottenham Hotspur and their interest in signing Tete in the upcoming January transfer window...

What's the talk?

According to reliable football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is an admirer of the Brazilian winger and that the club are one of a number of teams who have been alerted to him potentially being available at the start of 2023.

The report claims that he has fallen out of favour under Lyon boss Laurent Blanc's management but it remains to be seen how much it would take to sign the gem, who is currently on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

It is stated that finding a wide attacker and a right wing-back are the two priorities for Antonio Conte and that the club are keen to provide him with what he needs in order to keep the Italian happy.

Kulusveski 2.0?

Paratici could repeat his Kulusevski masterclass by securing a deal to sign Tete in January as the Brazilian could replicate the impact that the Swedish international had at Spurs since his arrival last January.

The Italian supremo brought the winger in on an initial loan deal from Juventus and the dynamic forward hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Kulusevski produced five goals and eight assists, whilst creating 1.4 chances per match, in 14 top-flight starts during the second half of the season and played a key role in the club securing a top-four position and Champions League football for the 2022/23 campaign.

Tete, who has 62 combined club career goals and assists to date, could be the next version of the Swedish wizard as he has shown plenty of promise in the final third over the last 18 months on loan at Lyon.

FBref list Kulusevski as one of the most similar players to Tete and both players rank in the 91st percentile or higher in assists per 90 amongst their positional peers in Europe's top five leagues and European competitions over the last 365 days.

The Brazilian forward has plundered eight goals and seven assists in 19 starts in Ligue 1 since the start of last season - averaging a Sofascore rating of 7.12 or higher in that time.

Therefore, Tete, who talent scout Jacek Kulig described as being "on fire" for Lyon, could come in and have a similar impact to the one that Kulusevski had last season as he has shown that he has the quality to provide goals and assists on a regular basis.

At the age of 22, the dynamo would also be a signing for the future and could be a long-term addition to the squad as well as an exciting signing in the immediate term.
