Tottenham Hotspur could now look to tie Harry Kane down to a new contract now that the summer transfer window has passed...

What's the word?

That's according to journalist Pete O'Rourke, who told This is Futbol that he expects Spurs to put their focus on the 29-year-old and his future, which isn't as clear-cut as it seems with interest ramping up from Bayern Munich in recent months.

Indeed, Sport Bild's head of football Christian Falk claimed the Bavarians are hoping to submit an offer for the England international in 2023, though a new deal would scupper their plans.

"Now the window is closed they can put all the focus on the football and also maybe look at tying down Harry Kane to a new contract," the reporter claimed.

"Antonio Conte has already spoken about hoping that something can be done to sort out his future.

"Especially when you've got the rumours of Bayern Munich waiting in the wings to maybe try and sign him next summer.”

Dream deal for Spurs

Keeping Kane at Hotspur Way would be something of a dream move for anyone concerned with the north Londoners, particularly the manager and the adoring Lilywhites faithful.

The England skipper has long been a key part of Spurs' squad, finishing as their top goalscorer across all competitions in each of the last eight campaigns, a feat that he looks set to repeat after five goals in six league outings already this term.

Kane is currently on around £200k-per-week in N17, which ranks him as the club's highest earner, but ensuring he's happy with another financial boost would certainly be a smart decision from sporting director Fabio Paratici, who can seal a post-window masterclass here.

During his time in charge of London rivals Chelsea, Conte couldn't hide his admiration for the Tottenham star, claiming (via GOAL):

"For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world. If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane," he said.

“He is a complete striker. He is strong physically with the ball, without the ball, he fights and he’s strong in the air and acrobatic on the right and the left."

Now he's fortunate enough to have that very player at his disposal and that partnership is working wonders for the club as they remain unbeaten across all competitions so far in 2022/23.

Also previously lauded as a "monster" by his teammate Heung-min Son, the £78m-rated Kane is simply at the forefront of any success that Spurs may encounter under the Italian head coach and as such, he must be tied down for the foreseeable future.

An extension past 2024 would be a dream for Spurs at this stage, given the interest from Bayern and past sagas surrounding Manchester City and Manchester United.
