Tottenham Hotspur have less than 24 hours left to complete any business that they want to do to bolster their squad heading into the second half of the season.

Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are reportedly on the verge of a deal to sign full-back Pedro Porro, formerly of Premier League rivals Manchester City, from Sporting and it remains to be seen if they will make any further moves.

One player the club are eyeing who may not arrive until the next transfer window is Bayer Leverkusen and Ecuador central defender Piere Hincapie.

Journalist Ryan Taylor told GIVEMESPORT that Spurs have been in talks over a possible swoop for the defender at the end of the current campaign and refused to rule out a deal before the current deadline.

He said: “There’s been a lot of dialogue with his representatives over a deal, they’re trying to sort of lay the groundwork for a summer move. But if Spurs feel like they can get him this month for an affordable price, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.”

This comes after The Sun reported that the defender is 'high' on Conte's wishlist and that his current club value him at around £80m, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Spurs.

The Tottenham head coach could land an heir to current centre-back Clement Lenglet by pushing for a deal to sign Hincapie heading into the 2023/24 season.

Lenglet is currently on loan from Barcelona until the end of the current campaign and his performances in the Premier League this term have been far from convincing.

The Frenchman has averaged a dismal Sofascore rating of 6.58 across 13 appearances in the division - making two errors leading to shots or goals at the back. His poor form in England also comes after the dud averaged a rating of 6.67 in 21 LaLiga outings for his parent club in 2021/22.

Hincapie, who is also a left-footed central defender, is six years younger than Lenglet and has averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.78 in 16 Bundesliga matches this season, whilst only making one error.

The 21-year-old machine, who once dubbed a "complete" and "dominant" centre-back by scout Jacek Kulig, was also a solid performer for Leverkusen in the German top-flight last term as the enforcer averaged a score of 6.80 across 27 games.

Whilst it remains to be seen whether or not Hincapie can replicate those performances in the Premier League, the young defender could replace Lenglet - who has not made a positive impression in England - as he is another left-footed centre-back who could come in and compete for that spot in the team after the Frenchman's loan ends.

At the age of 21, the Ecuador international is also a player with potential who could be a long-term option for Conte at the back, which means that he could offer more to Spurs in the future than Lenglet, 27, would.
