The January transfer window opens for business at the end of this week and Tottenham Hotspur may be in the market to improve their squad heading into the second half of the campaign.

Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte may work together to bolster the side in order to give themselves the best chance of securing a place in the top four - in order to land Champions League football for another season.

Earlier this month, Italian outlet Calciomercato named Spurs alongside fellow Premier League team Liverpool as being interested in signing Napoli wide attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Serie A side reportedly want to pin the winger down to a contract extension, taking his deal through to 2028, in order to ward off interest from clubs in England and elsewhere.

90min recently reported that the Italian side are not willing to cash in on him for £50m and that it will take at least £100m to tempt them into doing a deal.

Although it remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham are prepared to pay the money it will require to snap up the attacker, Kvaratskhelia would be a phenomenal addition to Conte's squad and could be the heir to Heung-Min Son's throne at the top end of the pitch.

The South Korean star will be 31 by the start of next season and Spurs may be starting to think about what life will look like beyond the former Bayer Leverkusen man, despite his 26 goals and nine assists in the Premier League since the start of last season.

Son has averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.21 in 14 top-flight appearances this term - producing three goals and two assists. Kvaratskhelia, meanwhile, has averaged a score of 7.38 in 12 Serie A outings - providing six goals and five assists from a wide-left position.

The entertaining Georgian international, who has also managed two goals and three assists in five Champions League games, was described as "anarchic" and "untamed" by journalist Rory Smith, whilst talent scout Jacek Kulig described him as a "demon".

At the age of 21, Kvaratskhelia is almost 10 years younger than Son and could arrive as the long-term successor to the brilliant attacker, with their respective statistics this season indicating that he could also provide stiff competition for him in the short term.

The Napoli attacker has shown that he can score and assist goals on a regular basis at the top level, domestically and in Europe, and Conte would surely love to have a player of his quality to call upon in the second half of the season and beyond.
