What a season Heung-min Son is having.

The Spurs sensation has already bagged seven goals, making him just four off last season's total, and has also provided two assists. He's even averaged a whopping 3.2 key passes and 2.4 shots per game too, via WhoScored.

There is no denying that he is Jose Mourinho's current MVP and as a result, he is set to be rewarded.

According to Matt Law at the Telegraph, tying down the 28-year-old forward is the next priority for Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy.

Despite still having over two years remaining on his current deal, the north London outfit would like a fresh agreement in place before the summer in the hope that it puts off some of Europe's top clubs from making a bid.

They also do not want a repeat of the Christian Eriksen situation.

The South Korean wizard is currently on £110k-per-week in N17 and that is expected to rise significantly should he accept the new deal.

Levy quite rightly deserves praise as he has just delivered Spurs one of their greatest-ever transfer windows.

You've got Gareth Bale's shock return, the apparent heir to Mousa Dembele's throne in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a genuine back-up striker thanks to Carlos Vinicius and three new defenders across the backline in Matt Doherty, Joe Rodon and Sergio Reguilon.

But rewarding Son with a bumper contract would top the lot - even the Welshman's second coming.

Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton has claimed that Spurs should "just give him what he wants." Speaking to Football Insider, he added:

"I mean that, whatever he asks for, just give him it. I think he’s sensational. He’s been that player that, even when Tottenham were struggling, he was the one that could really give you something. He’s got pace, he’s clever, he scores all types of goals, he’s got the whole package in my opinion."

And he's not wrong at all.

Son is crucial to Spurs' fortunes - as per the BBC, Son's contributions have risen from 15% of all goals during his debut campaign to 33% of all goals last season, which even surpassed Harry Kane, whilst this campaign it currently sits at a whopping 43%.

He has even become the 25th 'best player in the world,' according to the same report, so Spurs really ought to put him among their highest earners as soon as possible.

Valued at £67.5m by Transfermarkt, Son is clearly invaluable to Mourinho and keeping him for the foreseeable future would be a much bigger statement than Bale's sensational return.
