Tottenham Hotspur could turn to a familiar face as pressure continues to mount on Nuno Santo...

What's the word?

According to Lilywhites insider John Wenham, the north Londoners are keeping a close eye on Mauricio Pochettino's situation at Paris Saint-Germain in case he becomes available.

Nuno is under increasing pressure to get things right at Spurs after suffering three straight heavy Premier League defeats, including the north London derby last weekend.

Wenham told Football Insider this week:

"Tottenham are watching the situation at PSG.

"The Messi-Pochettino thing has somewhat quietened down by the looks of things.

"If Pochettino became available, would Tottenham replace Nuno with him? I think they would. All you have to do is look at how hard Levy went for him in the summer.

"They were scared off by the financial muscle of PSG. I think that is the only way Tottenham would get rid of Nuno."

Fans would love it

It's no secret that much of the Tottenham fanbase are either against Nuno, or are on the verge of it.

Before he was even appointed, many fans on social media vented their anger to the point that their frustrations were trending on Twitter. Many were concerned by his negative brand of football, having witnessed it during his time at league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It seems as if that stance has not changed one bit, as relayed by This is Futbol this week.

Pochettino held talks with Daniel Levy and co before the 47-year-old was appointed, and at the time, the Lilywhites faithful were absolutely buzzing and excited about the chances of their former boss returning.

One supporter claimed it was "like Christmas Eve" whilst another suggested he was "salivating uncontrollably" over the prospect of seeing the Argentine back in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as per This is Futbol.

It certainly seems like Pochettino remains on the radar of the Spurs hierarchy, so if Nuno cannot turn things around, then Levy could well make the fans happy again by reappointing the 49-year-old.
