Tottenham Hotspur could well be set to strengthen their ranks even further this month, having already wrapped up a deal for Villarreal's Arnaut Danjuma.

What's the word?

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Lilywhites could be about to follow up that loan signing with the capture of Sporting Lisbon sensation, Pedro Porro, with Antonio Conte's side now seemingly edging closer to sealing a deal for the 23-year-old.

Writing on Twitter about that developing story, the transfer guru stated: "More on Pedro Porro. Understand new round of talks between Tottenham and Sporting on Thursday to get the deal sealed — it’s now ‘really close’, at key stages.

"All parties feel it could be done in the next 24/48 hours. Payment terms are the final point of discussion."

It is yet to be seen what the make-up of that deal would be, with the north Londoners having seemingly been keen to avoid having to immediately fork out to trigger the Spaniard's €45m (£40m) release clause.

Imagine him and Danjuma

As noted above, the top-four hopefuls moved swiftly and efficiently to secure the services of the aforementioned Danjuma from under the nose of Premier League strugglers, Everton, having produced a last-minute hijack to tempt the Netherlands international into moving to the capital.

That temporary acquisition appears something of a coup for Conte and co, with the 25-year-old having scored six goals in 17 games in all competitions in Spain this term, after previously providing 20 goal involvements in 34 games across all fronts last season.

A player who is simply a "nightmare for defenders", according to pundit Kevin Phillips, the former Bournemouth man will provide further competition to an already formidable forward line, while offering the flexibility to feature both on the flanks or in a centre-forward berth.

If the Nigerian-born marksman is to enjoy success during his time at the club, he will seemingly need to be provided with quality service from those around him, hence bringing in Porro before the end of the window.

The latter man has proven himself a truly "special talent" during his time in Portugal to date, providing 12 goals and 20 assists in 97 games in all competitions since joining on an initial loan deal from Manchester City back in 2020.

While the impressive full-back was unable to make the grade at the Etihad after failing to record a single first-team appearance, he has since more than showcased his quality in Lisbon, notably providing 14 goal involvements in just 25 games so far this season.

That creative spark is also illustrated by the fact that the 5 foot 8 machine ranks in the top 1% among those in his position in the 'Men's next eight competitions' for both shot-creating actions and assists, as well as in the top 2% for progress passes received.

That willingness to make things happen from his wide berth would suggest that Porro is something of a forward's dream, with Danjuma set to relish feeding off such reliable service.

Although it has come late in the day with the end of the window fast approaching, it does appear that Spurs could have wrapped up two potentially vital deals in their bid to secure Champions League qualification.
