Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte isn't likely to leave the club anytime soon, according to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano...

What's the word?

The journalist has insisted that the 52-year-old coach is happy at Spurs despite their recent struggles and a lack of substantial financial backing during the January transfer window.

He recently told his YouTube channel:

"They needed the reaction, and from what I’m told – and as I said here on the channel – Antonio Conte, also after his interview to Sky Italy, he is not planning things like leaving or creating a problem.

"No, he wants to be clear, he wants to react, he wants the club to think with a winning mentality and he wanted the players to react on the pitch. This is what he asked in the dressing room the day before the game with Man City, and this is what we saw on the pitch."

Encouraging news

Conte's interview with the Italian press caused quite the stir amongst those in England, though the Lilywhites manager feels his comments were mistranslated, as he revealed in the build-up to Saturday's 3-2 win over defending champions Manchester City.

After a promising start, going unbeaten in the league under his tenure, Spurs hit a rocky patch in early 2022, where they lost three successive league games on the bounce but they responded with an impressive victory against Pep Guardiola's side at the weekend.

That result was promising enough but this latest revelation from Romano is perhaps the icing on the cake as it would appear that Conte has bought into the plans at Hotspur Way.

He is under contract for next season, so he should still be in the dugout this time next year and that has to be encouraging to hear for the majority of Spurs fans around N17.

"This group of players is fantastic. Honestly, this is one of the best groups of players I’ve worked with in my career," the Italian said in his post-game press conference (via the Evening Standard).

That doesn't sound like a man unhappy with the tools available at his disposal, does it?

The rumour mill has been in full flow in recent weeks with Conte being linked to jobs at Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but hopefully, this behind-the-scenes update from Romano puts that gossip to bed.

Spurs supporters must be absolutely buzzing after this news.
