Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his playing squad in the January transfer window and according to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Ghana and Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus could be the answer.

The versatile 22-year-old dynamo has starred at both a domestic level and in the Champions League for the Eredivisie giants this season, and is now at the World Cup in Qatar.

Spurs have recently been linked with a move for the 5 foot 9 midfielder, who has largely been deployed as a false nine or second striker at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that his performances have caught the eye of Tottenham, with the Lilywhites now likely to scout him on the world's biggest stage, though they face stiff competition from Serie A champions AC Milan.

Conte is thought to be after another forward and O'Rourke believes that Kudus is a viable target - speaking to Football FanCast, he said:

"I know that Antonio Conte is looking to maybe add a bit of cover and competition to his forward line, and Mohammed Kudus will be someone who can provide that.

"And he's also still a young player with huge potential who I think will get better and better."

The Italian head coach already has a wide range of options up front as the likes of Heung-min Son and £60m summer signing Richarlison are able to play out wide and through the middle, whilst there is also Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil.

However, just as O'Rourke suggests, Kudus has mega potential that could be too hard to ignore and in addition to that, he's capable of playing in the engine room, possibly offering Conte a solution to his lack of creative talent.

When compared to his positional peers across Europe's top five divisions, the 22-year-old gem ranks inside the top 1% for passes and dribbles completed, as well as the top 4% for progressive passes and touches in the opposition's box, via FBref.

As such, Kudus - who was dubbed "really special" by Aalborg’s Dutch striker Tom van Weert - could be a very worthwhile addition for sporting director Fabio Paratici to make in January.
