Heung-min Son continues to prove his immense worth to Tottenham Hotspur.

The north London outfit ended a run of three successive league defeats with an impressive last-gasp victory over defending champions and current leaders Manchester City and the South Korean sensation played a starring role, as he often does in the big games.

He did not get on the scoresheet up at the Etihad Stadium but he played a crucial part in Spurs' first two goals, providing sublime assists for Dejan Kulusevski and his striker partner Harry Kane.

It takes his tally to 14 direct goal contributions in 20 appearances for the 2021/22 campaign, which is comfortably the highest in the team even after the England international's brace.

What a signing he has been since his arrival in 2015.

The Lilywhites announced the signing of the 29-year-old dynamo in a £22m deal from Bayer Leverkusen on August 28th. He was the club's fifth addition that summer, alongside the likes of Kevin Wimmer, Clinton Njie, Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier - none of whom remain at Hotspur Way.

Over the last six-and-a-half years, Son has delivered 117 goals and 71 assists across 309 appearances, which works out to be a direct contribution once every 110 minutes - almost one goal or assist every game, as per Transfermarkt.

Those are remarkable returns and ones that prove the sheer level of consistency and quality that he is delivering for the club. And considering he cost half of Tanguy Ndombele, it has been phenomenal business from Spurs.

Now in the peak years of his career, Son's transfer valuation has soared to £72m via Transfermarkt, a whopping 227% increase on what they paid.

Such form in a Spurs shirt has garnered plenty of glowing endorsements from those that have coached him and amongst the press, too.

"[A] special player but also a special human being," is how former manager Jose Mourinho once described the £140k-per-week star, whilst Match of the Day pundit Martin Keown lauded him as a "revelation" to the club.

On the above evidence, chairman Daniel Levy and co struck a dream deal to sign the long-serving gem all those years ago. Spurs have hit the jackpot with Son.

He is arguably their most crucial player now.
