An exciting behind-the-scenes claim has emerged about Tottenham Hotspur's plans on deadline day...

What's the word?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT today, talkSPORT transfer expert Alex Crook said:

"I think there’s a couple of names that haven’t come out yet. I think they’re still working quite hard behind the scenes."

We know that the north London outfit are on the verge of confirming Juventus duo Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in a double swoop this late in the January window, as per Fabrizio Romano, but it appears as if their business isn't done yet as Crook believes they are still working hard at Hotspur Way to complete some deals.

Exciting news

Under Antonio Conte, Spurs have been revitalised on the pitch, having lost just once in the Premier League since he took over from Nuno Santo back in November.

They are on the cusp of a place in the top-four, currently sat in seventh place, just two points behind Manchester United with a couple of games in hand due to the postponements over the festive period.

This window presents the Italian head coach with an opportunity to strengthen his squad and subsequently, their chances of sealing Champions League qualification for the first time in three seasons.

He's thought to have requested three signings - a right wing-back, a central midfielder and a striker - so it's only really Bentancur that fits these demands, though Kulusevski's versatilty makes him a candidate for at least one other role there.

Crook believes there are still irons in the fire heading into the final few hours of the transfer window, so if you're a Spurs fan, you should probably strap in with excitement as there could yet be business on the way.

It's even more thrilling that it could be targets that haven't come out in the public eye yet, meaning Paratici and co could be keeping some deals under wraps.

So on the above evidence, a new right wing-back may be on the agenda, meanwhile, a left-footed central defender wouldn't go amiss either. Only time will tell if the Juventus duo will be Spurs' only signings this month.
