Tanguy Ndombele could finally have a way out of Tottenham Hotspur...

What's the word?

According to Romagiallorossa, AS Roma are planning to hold talks over a potential move for the out-of-favour Spurs midfielder, with his former manager Jose Mourinho keen for a reunion in the Italian capital.

Lilywhites sporting director Fabio Paratici is currently in Italy to discuss several transfer dealings, both incomings and outgoings, and Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo is a player that is expected to come up in discussions.

The Serie A outfit could get Ndombele in return and it's thought that they are keen on a loan deal that contains an obligation to buy.

Time's up for Ndombele

If this interest is genuine, then the north Londoners must not hesitate to get rid of the £55m flop.

Over the last three years, under four different managers, the ex-Lyon dynamo has struggled to make his mark and cement a regular place in the starting lineup.

His performances have been inconsistent, whilst his attitude has often been questioned, which is why current boss Antonio Conte wants him nowhere near the first-team squad, having left him out of their pre-season schedule.

As per Transfermarkt, Ndombele has only been able to deliver ten goals and nine assists across 91 appearances, which is an average of one goal contribution every three games. And that isn't good enough for a club-record signing.

He went back to Lyon in January but failed to refind the form that earned him a move to the Premier League. Instead, the Ligue 1 outfit opted for an injury-prone Corentin Tolisso on a free transfer; a rather damning indictment on the Spurs star.

Ndombele is Tottenham's joint-highest earner on around £200k-per-week, so when you factor in his salary (excluding the few months he was out on loan: £27.6m) with that astronomical £55m fee, then he has burned an £82.6m hole in the ENIC group's pocket.

Once dubbed "very lazy" by Alan Hutton and "disgraceful" by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, it's clear that Ndombele has no future at Spurs, so it's time for Paratici to secure his exit as soon as possible.

Roma's mooted interest is a complete blessing for everyone concerned with the Lilywhites. Ndombele must be sold.
