Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to do much business on deadline day aside from Pedro Porro...

What's the word?

That's according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay, who believes that Spurs will be done after announcing Spanish right wing-back in a £39m deal from Sporting CP at some point today.

"Never say never (it is deadline day, after all), but I'm told Porro is almost certainly going to be Tottenham's last senior signing today," he tweeted.

It'll mean that the Lilywhites will have brought in only two players this month; Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal and the aforementioned Porro.

Bad news for Conte

This update will surely frustrate first-team manager Antonio Conte as he needs many more additions to get the club where they need to be and with his long-term future in jeopardy, it could well be the final nail in the coffin for the Italian and his tenure.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that the 53-year-old was under fire, with his future becoming increasingly uncertain due to performances on the pitch, whilst respected reporter Gianluca Di Marzio suggested that Conte would not renew his expiring contract at the end of the season.

The lack of further additions on deadline day would surely make his decision a lot easier, considering he was well-backed at Inter Milan and Chelsea.

Danjuma will undoubtedly add a new dimension and some much-needed depth to his attack and Porro fixes a long-standing issue on the right flank, but it isn't enough.

Tottenham's central defensive options are weak outside of World Cup winner Cristian Romero and Hugo Lloris' recent costly blunders makes a goalkeeper an emerging and worrying priority.

The likes of Piero Hincapie and Jordan Pickford have been mooted, though they are unlikely additions before 11pm. That said, if sporting director Fabio Paratici can pull of the unthinkable, then it would certainly aid Conte's quest to bring silverware to N17 at long last.

However, given the reliability of Barclay, it does seem unlikely that any more first-team additions will be through the door at Hotspur Way today and that's got to be a gutting blow for the manager, and perhaps the fanbase too.
