An update has emerged on Djed Spence and his interest in joining Tottenham in the summer transfer window...

What's the talk?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the full-back is keen on a move to North London and is now waiting for the club to make a move for him.

The Italian journalist has also claimed that Spurs are yet to make an offer for him but are eyeing him as a potential target.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (14th June), the reporter said: “They are showing their ambition to Antonio Conte, waiting for more signings to come.

“Let’s remind that Djed Spence from Middlesbrough is a serious possibility they are considering.

“But there’s still no official bid, so the player is waiting.

“He’s of course waiting for Tottenham as a big possibility to play Champions League football after a fantastic season with Nottingham Forest.”

Supporters will be delighted

Spurs supporters will be delighted with Romano's update for multiple reasons.

Firstly, they will be buzzing to learn that Spence is waiting for Tottenham to come in for him. It shows that he is eager to play for the club and is desperate to join, rather than being a player who needs to be convinced that it is the right team for him to play for.

The fans will surely appreciate a player who is passionate about representing the badge as his appetite for wanting the transfer suggests that he will leave everything on the pitch when he is given an opportunity to play.

Supporters will also be delighted because Spence is an exciting young player and one that they will want to watch in action next season.

In the 2021/22 Championship campaign, the England U21 international caught the eye on loan at Nottingham Forest as he helped them win promotion to the Premier League.

He demonstrated his ability to excel as a wing-back as he showcased his quality defensively and offensively in the second tier.

Going forward, Spence provided two goals and four assists from full-back. He created 42 chances in total, including six 'big chances', as he proved that he can make an impact in the final third when he bombs down the right on the overlap.

Defensively, he made 2.9 tackles and interceptions per game on the way to helping Forest to keep an impressive 17 clean sheets in the Championship.

Fans will, therefore, be excited to see what the 21-year-old is capable of doing in the Premier League and will be buzzing with his desire to make the move happen.
