An update has emerged on Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes, regarding Jorge Mendes’ efforts to send him to Tottenham.
According to Deporte Valenciano, super-agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to facilitate a deal to take Goncalo Guedes to Tottenham this summer. The report claims that the Portuguese agent has offered Guedes to his compatriot Nuno Santo and is trying to get a move over the line.
Fabio Paratici must act on this potential opportunity and work with Mendes to bring Guedes to North London this summer. The attacker could be an excellent addition to Santo’s squad and h’es a player that the fans would love watching. He is an exciting, direct, winger who could get supporters off their feet by committing defenders and creating chances, both for himself and for his teammates.
Former PSG director Patrick Kluivert heaped praise on the forward upon his arrival in Paris in 2017. He claimed that Guedes was one of the best talents in Portugal and stated that “fans will love” his style of play.
“I think he is one of the greatest Portuguese talents at present.
“The club has a long and loving history with this country and I am sure the fans will love his style of play. His arrival makes things interesting for us because he is extremely versatile.”
Guedes averaged 2.1 dribbles completed and 1.1 chances created per game in La Liga last season for Valencia, which illustrates Kluivert’s point about his style of play. He likes to take players on and that way of going about his business could lend itself to him being loved by fans, as it an exciting way to play the game.
Portuguese legend Luis Figo once lauded the beast and highlighted his unpredictability as one of his biggest strengths.
“Guedes is a fast, irreverent and unpredictable player, who himself builds actions for his teammates and is also able to finish well.”
The 24-year-old could be an excellent addition to Tottenham’s squad and he’s a player that fans would love to watch in the Premier League next season.
Paratici must take Mendes up on his offer and bring Guedes to the club, as long as the finances are in line with what the club are hoping to spend this summer.
