Alasdair Gold has shared an exciting transfer update with Tottenham fans, one which suggests that Nuno Espirito Santo's side could target Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix this summer.

What's the word?

In a Q and A session with Spurs fans, Football.London journalist Gold shared the latest news on Spurs' reported interest in the French defender, saying:

"Maxence Lacroix is one of a number of centre-backs Spurs and Fabio Paratici are looking closely at. The 21-year-old Frenchman has got pace on top of his defensive attributes, which is something Tottenham don't have an abundance of in the centre of the backline."

Would Lacroix be a good signing for Spurs?

Lacroix was one of the standout performers for Wolfsburg last season as they secured a place in the Champions League with a fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga.

The youngster would make 30 appearances in the German top-flight, contributing one goal and one assist, which helped him average an excellent 7.03 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

This would rank him as the third-best performer in Die Wölfe's side last season, which emphasises just how important he was to their impressive finish in what was his debut season at the club.

The former Sochaux man's average rating was also better than any Spurs centre-back managed last season, which suggests that defensive reinforcements are required this summer if the North London club are to challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Although a deal for Lacroix might be difficult for Spurs to complete this summer due to the Champions League football on offer at the Volkswagen Arena, the man valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt would certainly be a great option for Spurs in both the short term and the long term.

From what Gold suggests, he is someone that Fabio Paratici is genuinely considering this summer, which will undoubtedly be music to the Spurs fans' ears, as they will undoubtedly be hoping for some improvements in their side's defence ahead of next season.

And, in other news... Paratici could sign Nuno a serious Dier upgrade with swoop for "brilliant" beast
