Spurs: Fabio Paratici set to seal Dejan Kulusevski deal

Tottenham Hotspur look set to complete the signing of Dejan Kulusevski this season, even if certain clauses of the winger’s initial 18-month loan switch from Juventus are not met.

That’s according to a report by Football Insider, who claim that, with Spurs being required to pay the Serie A side a figure of £31m should the 22-year-old make 20 Premier League appearances and Tottenham finish in the top four, Fabio Paratici is set to sanction this deal regardless of whether or not the pre-determined criteria are met.

The report goes on to state that a source close to the club has revealed that the Sweden international’s permanent switch to north London is already “95% done” – with it being believed that Kulusevski has agreed personal terms with the Premier League club, while Paratici is also thought to have confirmed the deal with the Bianconeri.

Paratici masterclass

Considering the remarkable impact Kulusevski has made at Tottenham in such a short space of time, coupled with the winger’s dramatic rise in market valuation over the last ten months, the argument that Paratici’s permanent move for the 22-year-old would be his biggest masterclass at Spurs so far is an incredibly easy one to make.

Indeed, over his 18 Premier League appearances in 2021/22, the £70m-rated talent wasted no time in making his mark, bagging five goals, providing eight assists and creating six big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.4 shots, making 1.4 key passes and completing 1.4 dribbles per game.

Despite only being at the club half a season, these metrics saw the Swede rank as Spurs’ third top-goalscorer, second-best assist provider and joint fourth-most frequent big chance creator, while his average of shots, key passes and dribbles per game also ranked him third, joint second and fourth in each respective metric last season.

More generally, Kulusevski’s returns saw him average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.21, ranking him as Antonio Conte’s fourth-best performer in the top flight of English football last time out.

It has been a similar story for the player who Raj Chohan dubbed “unreal” and Greg Jenner claimed looks to have been “a hell of a bargain” over his seven league outings this season, having already scored one goal, registered three assists and created two big chances for his teammates – with these returns seeing the forward average a SofaScore match rating of 6.91.

As such, when factoring in his remarkable impact in the final third, in addition to the fact his market valuation now sits at a whopping £39m more than the £31m Tottenham look set to pay for his full-time services – a 126% increase – should Paratici indeed go on to seal a deal for Kulusevski this season, it will very much have been one of the Italian’s best of his tenure thus far.
