Tottenham Hotspur are set to sanction the sale of Dele Alli in the January transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by The Sun, who claim that, despite being handed a rare Premier League start in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, Spurs are prepared to cash in on the midfielder this winter.

A further report by Eurosport also suggested that Antonio Conte will look to move the former England international on next month, with both West Ham United and Newcastle United believed to be interested in the 25-year-old.

Dele must go

If Sunday's fixture was Dele's last big chance to fight for his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the midfielder once again failed to take his opportunity over his 81 minutes on the pitch.

Indeed, despite visibly putting in a great deal of effort against Jurgen Klopp's side, the £27m-rated midfielder failed to have any real impact on the game, completing just 14 of his 21 attempted passes, losing 11 of his 18 duels, conceding four fouls and giving away possession of the ball on 15 separate occasions.

The 25-year-old also missed a glorious opportunity to put Tottenham 2-0 up half an hour into the fixture, seeing his one-on-one chance tipped wide by Allison between the Liverpool sticks, as well as failing to give Harry Kane any real chance to finish off a Spurs attack with a scuffed pass across to the England captain, who has the goal at his mercy.

These returns saw the player who Darren Anderton dubbed a "freak" earn a SofaScore match rating of just 6.5 - ranking him as Spurs' fourth-worst player of those who started the fixture.

As such, while Sunday was the first time the £100k-per-week man started a Premier League fixture under the leadership of Antonio Conte, it may also be the last.

Despite an admirable display, Dele did nothing to suggest he can play a starring role for the club going forwards - something which leads us to believe that a parting of the ways between the player and the club this winter would best suit all parties.
