Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the future of reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Milan Skriniar.

In a recent column for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist revealed that, following a report by The Sun in which it is claimed that Manchester City have now joined Tottenham and Chelsea in the race to sign the Inter Milan centre-back on a free next summer, neither City nor long-term admirers Spurs have yet made an approach for the 27-year-old.
The transfer insider went on to suggest that, despite the reported interest of the Premier League trio, it is Paris Saint-Germain - who failed in a bid to land the Slovakia international this summer - currently the most interested in making a move for the defender at the end of the current campaign.
Regarding the future of Skriniar, Romano said: "There is a lot of talk at the moment of English clubs, but my understanding is that the most interested in Milan Skriniar remains Paris Saint-Germain. Manchester City and Spurs have not made any proposal or approach, while Chelsea were focused on signing Wesley Fofana this summer."
Conte's dream signing
Considering just how impressive Skriniar has been in Italy in recent years, in addition to Conte having already enjoyed a great deal of success when working with the centre-back previously, it is not difficult to understand why the 27-year-old is reported to be the Italian manager's dream signing for Tottenham.
Indeed, the €81m (£71m) defender played a key role in Conte's title-winning campaign with the Nerazzurri back in 2020/21, helping Inter keep 12 clean sheets and scoring three goals over his 32 Serie A appearances, with these returns seeing Skriniar average a SofaScore match rating of 7.07 - ranking him as the 52-year-old's seventh-best player in the league that season.
Furthermore, according to FBref, the Slovakian ranks in the top 2% of centre-backs in Europe's big five leagues and European competitions for passes completed per 90, as well as the top 18% for shot-creating actions, the top 17% for shots, the top 26% for dribbles completed and the top 6% for progressive passes received over the last 365 days.
From these metrics, it is clear to see that the £94k-per-week player who Eurosport journalist Siavoush Fallahi dubbed a "monster" would be an exceptionally good fit for Conte's tactical setup in north London - with the Italian known to prefer his defenders to be able to play the ball out from the back and be able to carry the ball forwards in order to launch counter-attacks.
As such, should Inter fail to tie the 27-year-old down to a new deal this season, and the defender does become a free agent upon the end of his current contract at the San Siro next summer, it would appear an absolute must for Paratici to launch a move for the 54-cap international - as Skriniar would undoubtedly be a dream signing for Conte's Tottenham, particularly on a free.
