Spurs: Harry Kane attracting Bayern Munich interest

Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane is attracting the interest of Bayern Munich.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by German publication BILD (via The Sun), who claim that, despite earlier reports suggesting that Antonio Conte is desperate for the 29-year-old to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bayern are attempting to convince the England international against penning a contract extension with the Premier League side.

The report goes on to state that, after the Bundesliga champions were reported to have sounded out a potential move for the striker this summer, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have already set the wheels in motion ahead of a potential 2023 summer swoop – at which point Kane will have just one year remaining on his current deal in north London.

Conte’s worst nightmare

While it is undeniable that Kane has been an integral part of the Tottenham side for the last eight years, when taking into account the extra gear the 29-year-old has somehow managed to find under the management of Conte, losing the services of the England captain would undoubtedly be the Italian’s worst nightmare becoming reality.

Indeed, after scoring just one goal and providing one assist over his nine Premier League appearances while Nuno Espirito Santo was in the Spurs dugout last season, the £77.5m-rated forward burst into life after Conte’s arrival, scoring 16 goals and registering eight assists over his next 28 league outings in 2021/22 – averaging a direct goal involvement every 103 minutes of top-flight football played under the 52-year-old last time out.

Do you think Kane will leave Spurs next summer?

It has been a similar case over the £200k-per-week talent’s six Premier League fixtures under the Italian so far this season, with the player who Charlie Eccleshare dubbed “unplayable” having already bagged five league goals – an average of one every 106 minutes of league football played in 2022/23.

The former Italian national team coach even confirmed just how eager he was for Kane to put pen to paper on a new deal earlier this summer, stating in response to a question asking if now is the perfect time for the centre-forward to be given a new contract:

“Yeah, the perfect time but you know very well that you create the perfect time with a project. If also the player understands that there is a right process, that everybody is going in the same direction, I think every single player wants to see this.

“And I think that Harry for sure is happy because he is seeing this type of situation. There is a vision, there is a direction and there is a unity to try to improve the team to be the team at the level of his expectations.”

A truly wasted talent...

However, while contract talks between the club and the 29-year-old may well be progressing behind the scenes, as yet, there appears to have been no agreement reached over a new deal for the England star, something that Bayern’s reported interest in a 2023 swoop for the forward could well hinder further.

Either way, losing the services of the 253-goal sensation would undoubtedly be a disaster for Conte, as it is evident that there are very few – if any – strikers in world football who could return the numbers Kane has for Tottenham – rendering the striker invaluable for the club.
