Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Nathan Ake to north London in the summer transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by 90min, who claim that Fabio Paratici now is keeping a very close eye on the situation of the Manchester City centre-back ahead of a potential move in the coming weeks.

The report goes on to state that the likes of Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Newcastle United and West Ham United are also interested in a deal for the 27-year-old, whom Pep Guardiola's side have informed is free to leave the club this summer - as long as they are to receive an offer in the region of £50m for his services.

"Perfect" for Conte

With the signing of a left-footed centre-back reported to be one of Antonio Conte's primary targets in the summer transfer window, it is not difficult to understand why Paratici would be interested in a deal to bring the Netherlands international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

While it is true that, following his £41m move to The Etihad back in the summer of 2020, Ake has somewhat struggled to hold down a starting spot in Guardiola's XI - being selected from the off just 30 times for the Citizens - the Dutchman still managed to impress in 2021/22.

Indeed, over his 14 Premier League appearances last season, the £26m-rated talent helped his side keep five clean sheets, as well as making an average of 0.6 interceptions, 1.1 tackles, 1.5 clearances and winning 3.9 duels - at a success rate of 66% - per game.

The £100k-per-week defender - who can also operate at left-back - also chipped in for City going forwards, scoring two goals and creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to completing an average of 55.1 passes, 1.0 long ball and taking 0.4 shots per fixture.

These returns saw the player who Nizaar Kinsella claimed looks "perfect as a left centre-back" and Bill DiFilippo dubbed "unreal" average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.08, ranking him as Guardiola's 14th-best performer in the top flight last time out.

Furthermore, according to FBref data, Ake also ranks in the top 2% of centre-backs in Europe's big five leagues for passes attempted per 90, as well as the top 7% for passes completed, the top 4% for progressive carries and the top 13% for aerial duels won over the last 365 days.

As such, it would very much appear as if the Dutchman would tick almost every box Conte is looking for in a left-footed centre-back this summer, leading us to believe that Paratici must do everything in his power to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
