Transfer Focus

That's according to a report by Spanish publication El Periodico Mediterraneo (via Sport Witness), who claim that Fabio Paratici is now plotting a move to bring the Villarreal left-back to north London in the summer transfer window, with Unai Emery's side believed to be willing to part with the 24-year-old for a figure of around €15m (£13m).

Further reports have suggested that Antonio Conte has personally recommended that the Italian sporting director pursue a move for the Ecuador international this summer, with the 52-year-old looking to continue the overhaul of his Tottenham squad ahead of the club's 2022/23 campaign.

Imagine him & Spence

With Spurs looking to be closing in on a deal to bring Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the potential of Estupinan lining up on the opposite flank to the 21-year-old next season is sure to be an extremely tantalising one for Tottenham supporters.

Indeed, the £26m-rated talent looks to be incredibly solid in a defensive capacity, with FBref ranking the 24-year-old in the top 3% of full-backs in Europe's big five leagues for interceptions per 90, as well as the top 27% for tackles, the top 28% for aerial duels won, the top 30% for blocks and the top 40% for pressures over the last 365 days.

The £19k-per-week Ecuadorian also appears impressive with the ball at his feet, with FBref also ranking the defender in the top 31% for dribbles completed per 90, in addition to the top 34% for passes attempted, the top 39% for progressive passes, the top 40% for touches in the opposition penalty area and the top 24% for progressive passes received over the past 12 months.

These metrics see FBref compare the player who Reece Chambers dubbed "really impressive" to some of the most exciting full-backs in European football, such as AS Roma's Matias Vina, Brighton & Hove Albion's Marc Cucurella and Southampton's Valentino Livramento.

As such, it is clear to see that the signing of Estupinan would be an incredibly exciting deal for Paratici to get over the line this summer, leading us to believe that the latest reports regarding Spurs' interest in the left-back is sure to have delighted Conte and the Tottenham faithful alike.
