Spurs: Antonio Conte interested in Tammy Abraham

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Tammy Abraham to north London next summer.

What’s the talk?

Transfer Focus

That’s according to a report by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who claim that the centre-forward is beginning to consider his long-term future at AS Roma, and could be interested in a move away from the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the current campaign.

The report goes on to state that Spurs are one club who are believed to admire the 25-year-old, while a number of unnamed Premier League sides are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation of the England international ahead of launching a potential move of their own.

“Real coup”

While it is true that Abraham has not enjoyed the best form of his career so far in 2022/23 – having scored just four goals and registered two assists over his 20 appearances in all competitions – should Conte believe he can help the striker refind his 2021/22 form after a move to Tottenham, it is undeniable that the forward would be a “real coup” for Fabio Paratici.

Indeed, over his 37 Serie A appearances last season, the £61m-rated talent was in astonishing form in the final third, bagging 17 goals, providing four assists and creating five big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.6 shots – 1.1 of which were on target – making one key pass and completing one dribble per game.

These returns saw the 25-year-old average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.06, ranking him as Jose Mourinho’s joint fourth-best performer in the top flight of Italian football last time out.

The £97k-per-week sensation also caught the eye in the Europa Conference League last term, scoring nine goals over his 13 outings in the competition, in addition to taking an average of 2.6 shots – 1.1 of which were on target – making 0.8 key passes and completing 0.5 dribbles per fixture.

At what age did Kane make his debut for Tottenham?

These returns saw the player who Nizaar Kinsella dubbed “unreal” average an even more impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.13, ranking him as Roma’s fifth-best player in the tournament – playing a crucial role in the Giallorossi going on to lift the inaugural UECL trophy.

As such, should Abraham be able to refind this level of form following a potential switch to north London next summer, it is undeniable that the “goal machine” – in the words of Stephen Elliott – would make an exceptional addition to Conte’s current attacking arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
