Tottenham Hotspur could still yet make some late deals happen in the remaining hours of this January transfer window if the right opportunities present themselves.

What's the latest?

This has been suggested by the reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold who has been assessing Tottenham's options ahead of the Tuesday transfer deadline.

Fabio Paratici's main target for the month has been to improve Antonio Conte's options at right wing-back with Pedro Porro reported as their number one target in that area.

However, it was also suggested the Lilywhites have been making some enquiries about the possibility of bringing in another centre-back.

And speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold has claimed Paratici will be keeping an eye out for any potential late deals which may emerge onto the market:

"So the feeling right now is at the moment because, obviously, we don't know where any of these opportunities are gonna arise because that's why they're called late opportunities. At the moment the feeling is that Porro -if they can get it over the line - that ends up being the last transfer. And that's because you can't foresee a late opportunity arising and it very well may do."

"And you can't rule it out. It'd be daft to, at this stage, say that's them done because you don't know what happens probably on Tuesday.

"Often Monday night is when these like late deals start to kind of rear their head as a possibility. And then on Tuesday, sometimes you get the odd frantic one towards the end that wasn't even considered. So I wouldn't rule it out entirely."

Late opportunities

Spurs have left it late again this year as they did in the previous January transfer window with their only signing through the doors so far being Arnaut Danjuma.

And it was a similar story last year with Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur both arriving at Hotspur Way on deadline day.

The north London side have often looked to react on the market when opportunities have emerged with previous examples being the likes of Paolo Dybala - albeit a deal fell through on deadline day 2019.

And this is certainly something which Spurs could look at as an option to improve Conte's side with the Lilywhites still competing in three competitions.

However, when Gold was recording his video, the proposed deal for Porro was yet to hit the rocks with a deal having been agreed upon by the two clubs on Saturday night.

Yet Spurs now find themselves in a mad scramble ahead of tomorrow's deadline attempting to revive the deal with Sporting believed to be asking for a further £2.6m from the London side.

So with this in mind, we do wonder whether any late deals may now take a back seat with the Lilywhites believed to be locked in talks with the Portuguese outfit to resolve the issues over the proposed Porro deal.
