Spurs: David Ornstein drops huge Fabio Paratici claim

David Ornstein has dropped a huge claim regarding the future of the Tottenham Hotspur managing director, Fabio Paratici.

What’s the latest?

In a recent article for The Athletic, the journalist claimed that, despite reports suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with the Italian in a bid to convince him of a move to Le Parc des Princes, the 49-year-old is set to remain in North London for the foreseeable future, as he is believed to be enthusiastic about the club’s future with Antonio Conte at the helm.

In his report, Ornstein writes: “According to reports in France, Paris Saint-Germain are likely to part ways with sporting director Leonardo and are keen on Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici as a potential successor.

“But The Athletic understands there has been no fresh contact and that Paratici is fully committed to the north London side. The former Juventus director is said to be enthusiastic about the project at Tottenham where he has a close working relationship with head coach Antonio Conte and chairman Daniel Levy.”

Do you think Paratici has done a good job at Spurs so far?

Conte will be buzzing

While a couple of Paratici’s initial Spurs signings were somewhat questionable – namely the €30m (£26m) arrival of Emerson Royal and the capture of Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal – the managing director nevertheless proved in the January transfer window that he can both target and acquire players who suit Antonio Conte’s philosophy perfectly.

Indeed, since Dejan Kulusevski’s arrival on an initial 18-month loan deal this winter, the 21-year-old has highly impressed over his seven Premier League appearances, having already bagged two goals, registered three assists and created four big chances for his teammates, with these returns seeing the £59m-rated forward average a SofaScore match rating of 7.30 – ranking him as Spurs’ second-best player in the top flight this term.

A truly wasted talent...

Another of Paratici’s January signings, Rodrigo Bentancur, has also impressed over his six league outings following his £21.5m arrival in north London, with the £42m-rated midfielder having made an average of 0.5 interceptions, 2.3 tackles, 0.8 key passes and won 5.2 duels per game – with these metrics seeing the 24-year-old average a SofaScore match rating of 6.85.

As such, should Spurs’ managing director be able to replicate the success of these two signings with his business in the summer transfer window, the future would appear to be extremely bright for Tottenham – something which leads us to believe that the news Paratici will be staying in the capital is sure to have Conte buzzing.
