Tottenham Hotspur central midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is already attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Italian publication Corriere della Sera (via Sport Witness), who claim that AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is keeping a very close eye on the 26-year-old ahead of a potential swoop for the Denmark international at the end of the season.

The report goes on to state that the former Spurs boss is a big fan of the midfielder, having signed him from Southampton during his spell in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although it is also believed that due to Hojberg's contract, transfer valuation and prominence in Antonio Conte's squad, the Serie A outfit's move for the 52-time capped player is considered a long-shot.

Paratici must avoid Hojbjerg disaster

Considering just how important a part of the Tottenham side Hojbjerg has become since his 2020 switch to North London, it is not a difficult argument to make that Fabio Paratici sanctioning the sale of the midfielder would be something of a disaster for Spurs.

Indeed, over his 20 Premier League appearances so far this season, the £42m-rated man has highly impressed under the management of Conte, scoring two goals, registering one assist and creating one big chance for his teammates, as well as making an average of 1.5 interceptions, 2.1 tackles, 60 passes and winning 4.9 duels - at a success rate of 57% - per game.

These returns have seen the £100k-per-week titan, who Mourinho dubbed a "phenomenal" talent. average a SofaScore match rating of 7.16, ranking him as Spurs' second-best performer in the top flight of English football - behind only Heung-Min Son.

As such, it is clear for all to see that, unless Paratici were to receive an offer that he simply could not refuse, the sale of the midfielder dubbed a "monster" by Morten Bisgaard would be disastrous for Tottenham, as Hojbjerg is very much one of Conte's most important players in the heart of his Spurs side.
