According to reports from The Sun, a relegation clause could see Tom Huddlestone leave Hull City for just £2million this summer - with recently promoted Newcastle one of the more interested parties.

The idea of the Magpies signing a holding midfield option this summer is nothing new - they've already been linked with Liverpool's Lucas Leiva and Lyon's Maxime Gonalons - and in terms of Premier League experience, it's hard to look past Huddlestone.

He's represented the Tigers and Tottenham Hotspur in the English top flight, amassing over 250 league appearances in total, but last season may well have been his worst Premier League campaign yet.

Indeed, although Huddlestone was surrounded by players of underwhelming quality, the 30-year-old didn't exactly pull his weight - especially when compared with the kind of form that had him in discussions for an England recall not to long ago.

In fact, the defensive midfielder averaged less than one tackle per match last term and although he's much better famed for quality in possession than work-rate out of it, Huddlestone didn't make a massive impact in that regard either - failing to register a single assist and completing just 32 passes per match.

Nonetheless, £2million is a real bargain for any player these days, especially one Transfermarkt value at more than double that sum (£4.25million). So, Newcastle fans, would you back a summer swoop for Huddlestone? Let us know by voting below...
