Even though they will surely canter to the Premier League title this season after beating Manchester City 2-1 this week, Chelsea are likely to strengthen Antonio Conte’s squad this summer.
Last year’s business has looked more and more shrewd as the months have passed, with David Luiz, Marcos Alonso and N’Golo Kante all contributing in their respective positions, but the Italian tactician may want to strengthen further up the field in a few months’ time, with reports claiming the club are willing to pay €65m (£55.5m) for Alvaro Morata.
So, scouts from the club are sure to have been paying attention as the Real Madrid ace netted an impressive hat-trick in La Liga action this week against Leganes, which showed off his deadly instincts…
Indeed, Morata fired only three shots on target, all of which went in! The forward also contributed with a key pass and won two aerial duels, while even three dispossessions didn’t knock his confidence before he was subbed off with just over 20 minutes to play.
Diego Costa has been lethal for Chelsea this term, but Conte would surely love to have another option to call upon in 2017/18, with little in the way of back-up behind the Blues’ top scorer right now.
