Manchester City 5-3 Monaco was an absolute cracker of a game. We all expected the two sides’ Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium to be a thrilling match, with both teams committed to attacking football, and it’s fair to say they did not disappoint.

One of the interesting sub-plots from an English point of view was Monaco’s emerging team of talented players, with eyes being cast across the Channel towards the Stade Louis II outfit to check up on their progress of late. Amid the wealth of links, Chelsea, according to The Times, are pondering a £70m deal for attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, and the Portuguese maestro gave any scouts watching food for thought with a stunning display..

The 22-year-old was simply excellent vs. Man City, with his 97% pass accuracy the best of any player on the pitch to play over 80 minutes, while his six dribbles completed was another on-pitch high. As well as the headline-grabbing numbers, Silva made 34 passes, touched the ball 57 times and put in one key pass as part of a fine Monaco showing.

If Chelsea weren’t serious about him before, they surely will be now.
