According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal have held talks with the representatives of Arda Turan, as the 30-year-old looks to force a move away from Barcelona.
Reports in Spain are suggesting that Luis Enrique’s imminent departure from Barcelona will trigger a major squad overhaul, with Arda Turan a likely victim of the player exodus.
It is thought that Turan’s representatives have been touting their client around Europe, with a number of parties in Italy and England reportedly interested.
The Turkish international is believed to favour a move to the Premier League and reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal have held talks with the versatile attacking midfielder.
The midfielder’s market value is £23.8m, according to transfermarkt.com.
Considering the fact that Turan has been on the fringes of the Barcelona first team for much of the season, his record is mightily impressive.
The 30-year-old has featured 30 times for the Catalan giants this season and has notched a notable 13 goals for the club.
While Arsenal may have a dearth of attacking midfielders, there is a high chance that Wenger will move a number of players along this summer.
Turan is certainly and upgrade on most, if not all of Arsenal’s attacking midfielders. The Turkish international is vastly experienced and still possess fantastic speed and stamina for someone of his age.
While he shows no signs of slowing down, Turan is reaching the stage of his career where his best years may be behind him. It will be up to Arsene Wenger to get the best out of a player who is vastly underrated when compared to his current Barcelona teammates.
