As reported by The Mirror, Arsenal are facing a fresh fight to hold onto the talented Alexis Sanchez with Atletico Madrid the latest side showing interest.
With Atletico Madrid facing the prospect of losing their star man Antoine Griezmann this summer, Diego Simeone is looking for a replacement that can continue to light up his side.
The man he’s targeting is Alexis Sanchez, according to The Mirror. They reckon that the La Liga club are willing to reinvest any fee they could potentially get for Griezmann and spend up to £60m for the Arsenal hitman.
With less than 18 months left on Sanchez’s deal at the Emirates and no sign of a new contract being signed, the North London side could be forced to part with the red hot Chilean international.
Alexis Sanchez has banged in an incredible 17 goals so far this season, playing a massive part in Arsenal’s fantastic unbeaten run earlier in the season.
That’s worth mega money in the Premier League and if Arsenal want to keep him they’re likely going to have to open the chequebook and increase his wages significantly.
He’s well on course to have his best season in an Arsenal shirt and perhaps the best season of his career. The most league goals he’s ever scored in one season was 19, for Barcelona in La Liga the year before he moved to London.
This is a transfer saga that’s likely to roll on and on unless they can convince the Chilean to commit his future to life at the Emirates.
