Arsenal ready to bid for Czech midfielder and long-term target Jakub Jankto

According to Gazzatta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto.

What’s the Story?

Having watched the 21-year-old since April according to reports, it seems that Arsenal are finally ready to make a bid for Czech international and Udinese star Jakub Jankto. A long-term target of Arsene Wenger’s, Jankto has recently signed a new contract with his Italian club. However, there are rumours that he has a £6million release clause in his contract.

How good was Jankto last season?

A real revelation. While Jankto has featured in previous seasons for Udinese, 2016/17 saw the Czech international establish himself as a vital part of the first team. The 21-year-old featured 30 times in all competitions for his Italian club, scoring five times and contributing four assists.

However, what impressed most was his composure and maturity that feel truly beyond his years. Jankto, who is valued at £6.8million by Transfermarkt, is a real box-to-box threat, with the ability to play a quarterback passing role, whilst also able to take the ball forward and deliver that killer ball.

Would Jankto be a good signing for Arsenal?

Jankto’s prospective success at Arsenal will very much depend on whether he receives enough game to at the Emirates to continue his remarkable progress.

The Czech was an ever present for Udinese last season and needs to feature in as many games to ensure that he reaches his full potential. With the sheer number of central midfielders at Arsenal, it seems unlikely that the move would be the right one for the youngster.
