Aston Villa star Jonathan Kodjia is in talks with Fenerbahce regarding a season-long loan, according to Fotospor.
The Turkish publication claim that the 27-year-old’s agent Arthur Poupel has spoken to Fenerbahce regarding a move.
It is believed that Villa’s failure to earn promotion back to the Premier League means that Kodjia is able to join another club on a temporary basis.
Fotospor reports that the Turkish outfit are prepared to pay all of the 27-year-old’s wages if he joins them on loan.
This season, Kodjia scored 19 goals in 36 appearances for the Midlands club.
Steve Bruce’s side had a rather lacklustre campaign as they ended up finishing 13th in the second tier.
They have already shot themselves in the foot if they have included a clause in Kodjia’s contract that allows him to leave on loan.
In that case, Villa will have little say on whether he stays or goes next season, and if there is an offer of top-flight football elsewhere in Europe, you could not blame him for taking it.
The only silver lining for Villa is that he may struggle to hit the ground running for them next season due to an ankle injury.
The forward is expected to miss a large chunk of pre-season after suffering a fracture towards the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
