According to Il Seccolo XIX, Celtic and Everton are both keen on landing young Croatian sensation Lovro Majer from NK Lokomotiva.
19-year-old Lovro Majer has been attracting the attention of a number of clubs in Europe over the past 12 months. However, according to Italian reports, it seems that Everton and Celtic are now the frontrunners in the race to land the Croatian.
Currently playing his trade with Lokomotiva in Zagreb, Majer is a creative midfielder who has started the new season in fantastic form, netting three times in just seven appearances this season.
The Croatian, who is valued at around £0.85million on Transfermarkt, was a revelation for Lokomotiva in his first season in men’s football.
Majer quickly established himself as a first-team regular once his debut had been made and ended up featuring 23 times for the club in 2016/17.
However, despite Majer’s goals, Lokomotiv have started this season extremely poorly and will likely look to cash in on their young star in order to ensure their top flight status.
With outstanding technical ability and a bargain market value, Lovro Majer seems like an obvious signing for both Everton and Celtic.
Where the teenager ends up will likely depend on how soon he wants to taste first-team football. Celtic could offer the Croatian a chance early on, while it may take a number of years for Majer to break into the Everton side.
