Chelsea and Manchester United target Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he will consider his options next month.

What's the word?

It would be difficult to find a football fan or figure that has not been left impressed by the 18-year-old's season at Monaco.

The teenager set the Ligue 1 and European stage alight with 26 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

To put it into context, Mbappe started just 17 of his 29 league games, but he managed to find the back of the net 15 times.

In the Champions League, the teenager's six goals helped Monaco reach the semi-finals and he started six of his nine outings in the competition.

Chelsea, United and Spanish giants Real Madrid have regularly been associated with Mbappe ahead of the transfer window, and now the Frenchman has had his say.

He told Telefoot:

“My future? For the moment I do not know. With the vice president we agreed to aim for the title and we put everything aside because my aim was to win this title with the club that formed me.

"So, I put all the rumours and the questions regarding my future to the back of my head and I will assess them after the French national team."

Is he worth the transfer battle?

It is easy to get carried away with young players when they perform at a high standard, but Mbappe has shown consistency.

For example, in his final 10 outings in all competitions this season, the forward netted five goals and created three assists.

Monaco are likely to demand a huge figure for their starlet, and this is where clubs need to be careful.

Manchester United and Chelsea have the financial clout to compete with that of Real Madrid, but a world-record fee may be a step too far.

United put their name in the history books by making Paul Pogba the most expensive ever footballer with an £89m swoop last summer.

It is questionable whether Mbappe can demand such a figure as yet considering that he has only just had his breakthrough season.

Given his age, it may be best for the youngster to remain at Monaco for another year and develop even further rather than risk getting lost in the shadows at another club if he fails to recreate this season's form.
