According to the Don Balon, Chelsea are set to make a move for Real Madrid full-back Danilo.

What’s the Story?

According to reports in Spain, Chelsea are ready to launch a bid for Real Madrid full-back Danilo, with the Brazilian keen to leave the Bernabeu. Don Balon believe that the former Porto star has been to see the clubs' President Floretino Perez and asked for a move away. They believe that Chelsea are ready to make a £21million bid to land the 25-year-old, who is desperate to grab a place in the Brazil squad for the 2018 World Cup.

How good was Danilo last season?

For a man who has struggled to find a way past Real Madrid’s first choice right-back Dani Carvajal, Danilo has impressed when given the chance.

The Brazilian featured 24 times in all competitions for the Spanish Champions last season and didn’t look out of place in a team full of superstars.

The future of Danilo, who has 16 international caps to his name, will likely rest on whether Carvajal earns a new contract which he desperate to sign. This could see the 25-year-old search for pastures new and Chelsea could well be a perfect option in that regard.

Would Danilo be a good signing for Chelsea?

Despite some early season indecisiveness, Antonio Conte’s famous 3-5-2 system was implemented at Chelsea to great fanfare. The system also reignited the career of Victor Moses, who held the right wing back slot for the entire season. Despite the Nigerian’s impressive performances, it is clear to see that the full-back options at Stamford Bridge are somewhat limited.

Danilo has raw pace, attacking prowess and fantastic dribbling ability and would be a perfect fit on Chelsea’s right hand side.
