According to the Daily Mail, Everton are looking to sign Ruben Vinagre from Monaco, to offer some competition for Leighton Baines.
In a bid to find competition for Leighton Baines, Everton are chasing Ruben Vinagre, who is currently playing his trade at Wolves, on-loan from Monaco.
The 18-year-old is reportedly being watched by a number of Premier League clubs, namely Arsenal and Manchester City. However, it is thought that Everton are the front runners, as they look to improve their depth at full-back positions.
Despite having a very shaky opening game, Vinagre has, along with many of his teammates, been a revelation this season. The 18-year-old has been very competitive, especially considering the Championship is such a physical league and is ahead of the experienced Barry Douglas in the pecking order at left-back.
If he continues in this vein of form, it will not be long before a top flight club comes in for the young Portuguese star.
While a back-up left-back is far from the top of the pecking order in terms of signings needed at Everton, it would certainly be an idea to start considering a replacement as Leighton Baines reaches the twilight years of his career.
Vinagre is bright, energetic and has years of football ahead of him. As long as Everton sign their top priorities first, there is no reason why they shouldn’t bid for the teenager.
