Ibrahimovic set for Man United talks, Mourinho confident he’ll stay

Manchester United will hold crunch-talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic this week to discuss the Swedish striker’s future at the club beyond this summer, The Sun reports.

What’s the word?

Netting 15 goals so far in his inaugural campaign in the Premier League, Manchester United’s signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free last summer stands as one of the best signings of the season- and the club hope to extend his stay.

The 35-year-old only signed a one-year deal when he arrived from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and the Swedish striker could move on again at the end of the season, with clubs from the MLS and China targeting the veteran.

However, Manchester United are keen to Ibrahimovic to stay for another 12 months and are planning to hold crunch talks this week, with Jose Mourinho wanting to know the situation as the club prepare their summer budget.

Will he stay?

Given the success of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Premier League this season, it’s difficult to imagine him leaving so soon. However, the continued links with Antoine Griezmann could have a negative effect- as it may mean Zlatan is no longer the main-man at Old Trafford.

Despite that, United are confident Ibrahimovic will extend his deal and the Swedish striker is happy in Manchester- with his family settled in the city and his children training with the Manchester United academy once a week.

With United possessing the option to extend Ibrahimovic’s deal by another year, it’s likely a conclusion to the situation will be reached imminently- and it should be a positive outcome for the Red Devils.
