As reported by The Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in selling Burnley’s Andre Gray this summer to provide more competent back up to Harry Kane than Vincent Janssen.
Spurs aren’t exactly lacking for attacking options with both Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min proving to be reliable options to score goals this season.
However they’re looking to bolster their attacking depth with a move for an Englishman just getting used to life in the English Premier League.
That’s according to The Mirror, who say that Andre Gray is on their radar after an impressive debut season in the top-flight with Burnley.
In order to fund the move, they’re ready to axe flop Vincent Janssen, a striker who has failed to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans after arriving at White Hart Lane last summer, say the paper.
After cutting his teeth in the Conference North and Conference Premier, Andre Gray made the big step up to the Championship in 2014 and hasn’t looked back since.
Scored 43 goals for Brentford and Burnley in two seasons at that level, he’s contributed a further 9 this season in the Clarets’ return to the top-flight.
That’s a scoring record that offers real value to Spurs, who would hope that his ability to find the net would only be enhanced with better players around him.
Given Vincent Janssen has failed to find the net from open play in the Premier League this season, he certainly appears to offer more effective back-up to the likes of Kane and Son.
