According to the The Sun, Manchester City and Arsenal are in discussion regarding a swap deal which would see Alexis Sanchez move from the Emirates to the Etihad.
While discussions are rumoured to still be in the early stages, it is thought that City would offer £50million plus Jason Denayer for Sanchez.
Denayer, a Belgian international has been on-loan at Sunderland this season and, despite the Black Cats less that impressive campaign, has performed admirably in tough conditions.
Alexis Sanchez, who transfermarkt.com rate at£55.25m, has the talent to fit in at any club in the world. The issue he may face at Manchester City however, is competitions for forward positions in the starting eleven. It looks as though Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus are set to be the future three front men at the Etihad.
Unless Guardiola halts the startling progress of his trio of youngsters, Sanchez may find more playing time elsewhere. However, there is no doubt that the Chilean would improve the Manchester City squad as a whole.
It is overwhelmingly clear that Arsenal’s squad needs a re-haul this summer, not least in defence, where everyone bar Laurent Koscielny have performed well below par. Shkrodan Mustafi has looked a poor signing while Gabriel simply doesn’t look like he has Premier League quality.
Jason Denayer is young and will only get better. However, it is a concern that Manchester City are no longer interested in keeping the centre-back, despite the fact that they have their own defensive problems.
