According to talkSPORT, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are battling for the signature of Issa Diop, but may have to act fast to land their man.
It is believed that RB Leipzig have made a £10million bid for the Toulouse star, which was subsequently rejected.
It is thought that the French club value Diop at around £20million and will hold out until interest from the Premier League turns into concrete offers.
While many Premier League fans are unlikely to have heard of Issa Diop, he is quickly becoming one of the most lauded young central defenders in France.
At just 20-years-old, Diop is already established in the Toulouse first team and has formed a formidable partnership with Christian Julien. The club have one of the best defensive records this season and this is, in no small part, due to the rapid development of Diop.
With a 6’3 frame, Diop is extremely physical, fantastic in the air and lightning fast. He is also encouraged to play the ball out from the back at Toulouse, which should stand him in good stead when he makes the step to a ‘bigger’ side.
With such a remarkable rise in the 20-year-old’s development, it is essential that Diop is allowed to play a good amount of first team football, to avoid the risk of stagnating.
Assessing the current defensive crop at all three interested parties in England would probably indicate that Arsenal would likely be the most profitable move for him in terms of minutes on the field.
