According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have joined Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

The 22-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of top flight clubs in Europe after a phenomenal season for Lyon.

However, it is thought that the French club will not be willing to sell one of their prized assets for any less than £35million.

How good has Tolisso been this season?

Arguably Lyon’s most consistent player this season, Tolisso has firmly established himself in the French side. He has featured 46 times for the club this season, scoring 14 times and providing six assists.

For someone of such a young age, Tolisso looks as composed and assured as any midfielder in Ligue 1 and has the ability to control the temp of games. His tenacity offensively is only matched by his ability to help his team defensively. In fact, despite his attacking tendencies, Tolisso has been played as a holding midfielder ten times for Lyon this season, with great success.

Would Tolisso be a good fit for Arsenal?

While Arsene Wenger is admittedly overstaffed in midfield, Tolisso would still be an extremely welcome addition to the club. He is unlike any current Arsenal midfielder in terms of his proficiency defensively and offensively, meaning that he can play as an attacking midfielder, defensive anchor and even a right sided defender.

While £35million may seem like an unwarranted expense for a man who hasn’t yet set the European scene alight, Tolisso has an incomparably promising future and would give Arsenal a real stability in the middle of the park.
