As reported by The Daily Mail, Ajax wonderkid Daishawn Redan will leave the club this summer, sparking a Europe-wide chase for his signature.

What's the story?

Ajax are well known for bringing through some of the best and brightest in world football Daishawn Redan could be the latest unknown starlet that goes on to become a household name in the future.

He's certainly one of the best prospects at the club right now, but will soon be packing his bags in search of a football education elsewhere, a move that has disappointed the club.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, youth coach Said Oouali said:

That there is no agreement at the last moment is extremely regrettable, obviously they have put something else on their minds. We have made every effort to maintain a great talent as Daishawn for the club but at some point it stops. We wish him all the best with the rest of his career.

It's clear he's rated at the Dutch giants and that may be why the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are said to be interested in his signature.

How good is he?

Redan is a prolific goalscorer at youth level, having already scored a barrel load of goals for Ajax's teenage sides, notching up two 40 goal seasons in his burgeoning career.

He was on the scoresheet too for his country, netting in a Netherlands U17 match against Italy.

It's obviously difficult to judge how that sort of talent transfers into the first team but he certainly has the makings of an elite player. Perhaps most demonstrative of his ability is how disappointed Ajax are he's decided not to sign a professional contract with them.

Securing young talent is vital for elite clubs who face an ever expanding transfer market. A move for the likes of Redan now could save them tens of millions of pounds in years to come. He may not be a well known face right now, but with the right guidance and the right facilities at a top English club, he could emerge into something special indeed.
