As reported by The Evening Standard, Chelsea are looking at other options despite remaining keen on taking Virgil van Dijk to Stamford Bridge.

What's the story?

With the Blues looking to fight on a few fronts next season domestically and on the continent, it's vital that Antonio Conte adds real quality to the squad to provide the depth needed to be a real force again.

The Evening Standard reckon the Chelsea boss remains keen on Virgil van Dijk, however with Southampton still insisting he is not for sale, they are no looking at other players.

One of those is Juventus stalwart Leonardo Bonucci, with the report saying that Chelsea are in discussions to land their man.

The answer defensively at Chelsea?

Bonucci played 45 times in all competitions for Juventus last season, contributing six goals and ensuring that his club conceded just 27 times in the league throughout the campaign.

Alonsgide Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini, Bonucci has arguably become a key part of the most lauded defensive trio in world football.

That suits Chelsea perfectly who have progressed massively with their three at the back over the last 12 months. Added to that, Antonio Conte knows Bonucci well from his time in charge of Juventus.

With experience to boot, signing him appears to be a no-brainer if the Blues can get the deal done.
