As reported by The Sun, West Ham United lead a three team chase for Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony, in an effort bolster their attacking set-up next season.
Bony has had a frustrating season at Stoke City, making just 9 Premier League starts on a loan from his Manchester parent club. But that hasn’t stopped other English Premier League teams taking an interest in his services.
The Sun reckon West Ham, West Brom and Everton are all hoping to sign him this summer with the Hammers leading the chase to land him.
All three believe they can harness the finishing power that saw him land a £25m move to the Etihad in 2015, according to the report.
As everyone knows, West Ham United badly need depth in their attacking frontline to provide competition and alternatives to the likes of Andy Carroll.
A move for the Ivory Coast international isn’t risk free. Bony has had a less than impressive couple of years in the Premier League, managing just six league goals since the start of the 2015/16 season. If that continued at the London Stadium it would do little to turn around the fortunes of the Hammers attack.
However it’s a prolific spell at Swansea that people will point to as a positive, where he scored 35 goals in 70 appearances across a season and a half at the club.
If Slaven Bilic can inspire that kind of form from him and spark his revival then it would most definitely be the kind of firepower that can bring the Irons to the next level.
